RRT Lancaster Fill Sandbags for Flood Risk Village

On the 27th February the RRT Team from Lancaster supported the local residents in Slyne by filling sandbags for distribution to those whose properties were in imminent danger of being flooded.

It was a mammoth effort by all those involved. Sandbags are very heavy once filled and not easy to carry. Nevertheless, the team did a great job. Just take a look at all those sandbags!

Lancashire was one of the counties badly affected by the recent Storms Ciara and Dennis. Some of the residents in Lancaster and Morecambe were even forced to use portaloos and some had sewage in their gardens following a deluge of rain brought on by the storms.

Sandbags are always a big help to keep flood water away from homes – we hope these ones proved helpful to the residents of Slyne.

Our thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected by the recent flooding and that the clean up job can get underway quickly so people can return to their homes.
