Liverpool RRT Support Southport Blue Light Open Day

On Saturday 11th August, the Liverpool RRT assisted at the Blue Light Open Day in Southport. They teamed up with the Merseyside Fire and Rescue service, Air Ambulance, the RNLI, the Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance service to support community open day.

The event was an opportunity for the emergency services to engage with the local population and for people to see behind the scenes and learn about how they operate in an emergency. Visitors were able to explore fire engines, ambulances and other emergency vehicles whilst interacting with exciting exhibits such as motorbikes and activities such as dressing up as a police officer and testing powerful fire-fighting hoses!

The RRT provided a welcome hot lunch which consisted of succulent burgers in rolls, salad, nachos, and refreshing drinks. We were expecting to cater for 150-250 people, but actually served 400!

It is these kinds of events that make us appreciate the selfless work the Blue Light services do for us. A considerable amount was raised in donations, which was passed on to the Fire Fighters charity.

There was a positive atmosphere and the day was enjoyed by the community, emergency services and RRT volunteers.
